Setting up the hand held : 1. Make sure it has the SD card installed. Fastest type is preferable. 2. Make sure Bluetooth is disabled. 3. Align the screen by going to Start|Settings|System|Screen. Click Align Screen. 4. Set the region correctly by going to Start|Settings|System|Regional Settings. Choose English(United Kingdom). You will be given a message to reboot. 5. Click on the Clock and Alarms icon and set the Home time zone to GMT (London) and set the time correctly. (V.Important) 6. Warm boot the device. MC9090 - Keep red button down for 10 seconds or so. 7. Turn the volume down a bit by going to top right speaker symbol. Slide it down to notch 1. 8. Start|Settings|Menus. Uncheck Calendar, Contacts etc. Click OK. 9. Start|Settings|Owner Information. Enter owner's details. On options tab you can select it to display on switching on. Click OK. 10. Start|Settings|Today. Click Items Tab. Uncheck all apart from time and owner info and Wireless if being used. Click OK. 11. Download CAB files. 12. Install ActiveSync on desktop if not already done. 13. Put the Handheld in the cradle. Get ActiveSync connected. From the PC Run Windows explorer. Copy all three cab files to the MyDocuments directory in the “My Windows Mobile-Based Device”. 14. Run File Explorer on the hand held and click on My Device at the top. Click on My Documents. Click on NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab. It asks to choose a location and you should choose “Device” and click on install bottom left. Click on OK when it asks you to restart the device. 15. Repeat for sqlce30.ppc.wce5.armv4i.cab, sqlce30.dev.ENU.ppc.wce5.armv4i.CAB, symbol.all.arm.cab. 16. Create a directory called RJLHandHeld off the Program Files directory and Copy the RJLHandHeld.exe into it. 17. Right Click the RJLHandHeld.exe and choose create shortcut. Rename the shortcut to RJLHandHeld. Then cut it. Paste it into Windows\Start Menu. 18. Test program by going to MyDevice\Program Files\RJLHandHeld and clicking on RJLHandHeld.exe. 19. Set up Wireless networking for wireless printers : Start | Programs | Wireless Companion choose Wireless Launch. Make sure Radio is on. Click on Options. OP Mode Filtering is just Ad Hoc ticked. Regulatory should by UK. Click Save to go back to Wireless Launch. 20. Click on Manage Profiles in Wireless Launch. Keep click down for context menu and choose Add. In Profile Entry set Name to RJLProfile and ESSID to RJL. Click Next. Operating Mode should be set to Ad Hoc. Country UK. Next. Leave channel as 1. Encryption Open. DHCP should be disabled by selecting Static. Enter the device IP Address : 192.168.1.50. Enter subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Transmit power Full. Batter Usage CAM. The profile now exists. 21. You can test the connection to a printer by turning the printer on and going to Wireless Launch then choose Wireless Diagnostics. Choose ICMP Ping. in the IP box type 192.168.1.150 and click Start Test. You should get Total Tx and Total Rx both going up in value to indicate a successful connection.
